One of these occurences is giant-sized food on the one hand and the obsession to avoid calories on the other. Like the famous example when an American orders the 800ml Starbucks Double Triple Chocolate Brownie Oreo Cookie Frappuccino... but with skim milk, please!
Mexico, as stated before, is the world's fattest country. And honestly, you see "big" and obese people everywhery. Actually, you stick out more, when not having some pounds too much. Ok, here at a private university it's another story, but still, "normal" weight is not normal here.
No wonder - you just cannot get small sized portions. For example the drinks: I love fresh juice, but I'm pretty sure not being able to stomach 1 litre of acidic pure mandarin juice in one sitting.
Nice - fresh pressed mandarin juice. But 1 litre?!
Pure mandarin water ice - nice!
Even the smallest bottles you can get are bigger than the "normal" bottles in Germany: It's 600ml instead of 500ml.
600ml Coke
Beer! Lots of it!
And to return to our previous Starbucks example: Mexico is also the country where I have ever seen Zero-Sugar Granola. Erm, wait a second. Isn't the idea of granola to caramelize sugar in order to make the ingredients stick together?! Hmm, the artificially sweetened version (and artificially flavoured, to make it even "healthier"...) is actually less "chunky", but still... Well, it's not that this avoidance of sugar would make any difference regarding the rest of my roomies' diet... Mexicans tend to nourish themselves soooo badly...
Granola... without sugar?!
Definitely American influence :) (btw, coke bottles are 591ml here...) - and yes, it is crazy, everything is HUGE here: detergent, the cans milk comes in, drinks,...and even the shampoo bottles!
