Córdoba

After my early leave from Comitán, I had more time than originally planned until New Year which I would spend together with H. in the capital. So, I decided to spend the remaining days in my favourite state Veracruz.

I headed directly to Córdoba, a nice city to which I had never been before.

It has a beautiful zócalo (maybe the most beautiful I've seen so far) and the atmosphere is a bit "academic" (book stores, etc.). Quite uncommon for Mexico.

The hotel where I stayed was perfect for "offsetting" the unpleasant experience from Comitán. While back there I had paid 80MXN per night, I now enjoyed a really nice stay in "Hotel Palacio" for 490MXN / night...

Passing a small house where an elder lady sold homemade "Mole" out a hole in the wall, I was curious. Homemade things are usually better and worth trying.. But how was I surprised that the lady was so honoured that a foreigner showed interest in her food, that she gave me the tamal con mole as a present. And it actually was the very first Mole I had tried in 2 years that I actually liked!

So, Córdoba was really nice, just the weather was a bit strange. With all that mist I felt more like in a coastal town (which Córdoba is not).

And one of the things I like most in Veracruz: Danzón music everywhere. Made some videos of the beautiful zócalo and the dancing performance, in case you are interested...
