Vegetarian food in Mexico... exists!

Well, as you already might have guessed - yes, vegetarian food in Mexico does exist. But it's surprising that there are even vegetarian restaurants (few, though). Recently I many times had dinner with my Mexican roomies. When they cook for themselves they normally have something like Meat with sausage. Sometimes with some tortillas. Veggies? No chance!

So I thought it would be fun to take them to a vegetarian restaurant. And guess what - they liked it!
Pakora, soy kofta and salad with (unfortunately) mint dressing.

Whole wheat bun with soy patty, avocado, lettuce, tomato and home made ketchup.

Pumpkin flower and cheese pakora.
But actually one of my favourite pseudo-Italian restaurants is still the killer (you remember the multi-storey salad?):
Mosaic of eggplant, grilled bell pepper, and cottage cheese with balsamic cream, olive oil and mint.

Rice noodles with veggies and shrimps.

Ciabatta with eggplant, dried tomatoes, goat's cheese and pesto spread. As a side tomatoes in balsamic vinegar and olive oil with a pinch of fleur de sel.
Awesome! And guess what - it's not expensive. Mexico starts to give me kind of a feelding like I had in Thailand - waking up and thinking "What a great thing to be here. Thanks!"

Indeed, I'm happy. Great roomies. Great fellow students. Great food (as long as you leave out the national cuisine...). Cultural differences start to become bearable and interesting.

Yet, I still don't get how they can call this a salad - and it was before they put the dressing...
Noodles, bread, chicken, cheese, 4 salsas - and the dressing of course. You can also order it within a bread...
But actually it doesn't matter as long as the one who buys it is so lucky about it :-)
J. (Germany) makes totally good for the salad massacre thanks to a beautiful laugh :-)
